Meet the Doctor
Steven J. Feldman, DDS
Dr. Steven Feldman began his private periodontist career in 1974 when he opened Venice’s first periodontal practice.
Ever since that day, Dr. Feldman has strived to provide his patients with the most up-to-date and highest quality periodontal treatment in a caring and professional environment. Dr. Feldman is committed to using the latest technology and minimally invasive treatments, and he stays abreast of the latest technical developments through extensive continuing education.
“The most important part of my practice is to provide the best care for each patient by staying current with new diagnostic and surgical trends and procedures,” says Dr. Feldman. “And to never stop learning.”
Dr. Feldman also cares about making his patients feel at home and comfortable in the practice, and he has assembled around him a team of knowledgeable, caring professionals who share that philosophy. He takes ample time to go over patient concerns and answer questions, and he is known for his friendly chairside manner and excellent communication skills.
Extensive education and training
Dr. Feldman received his dental degree from Marquette University, and he received his periodontal certification when he graduated from Tuft University’s Postdoctoral Periodontology Program. After this, he has continued to further his knowledge of periodontics by taking part in regular continuing education courses.
In 1994, Dr. Feldman obtained Diplomate status from the International Congress of Oral Implantology, which is the highest honor the ICOI bestows on a dental professional involved in implantology.
He continues his education and training to this day, always staying abreast of the latest techniques and technological developments of the field, so that he can provide patients with the most up-to-date, modern care available.
Educator, researcher and instructor
After obtaining his periodontal certification, Dr. Feldman served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps for several years, training general dentists in Periodontics while also teaching Periodontics at the Medical College of Virginia Dental School.
Dr. Feldman co-developed a technique to perform periodontal laser surgery without the use of anesthesia, publishing the first paper on the subject.
Throughout his career, he has sponsored and organized many seminars in the areas of periodontology, infection control, laser surgery, 3D diagnostics and dental implantology. He has also served as a consultant and lecturer for various dental technology companies, providing his expertise and knowledge to dental professionals across the United States.
Dental treatment planning software developer
Dr. Feldman is also a developer of dental treatment planning software.
In 2005, he built a software company called XCPT Communication Technologies and introduced to the world of dentistry a unique treatment planning and communication software, XCPT.
XCPT allows dental professionals to visually show and explain exactly what the patient needs to move forward with care. It provides visuals of proposed treatment (such as crowns, bridges and implants) and incorporates the patient’s X-rays, CT scans and photos in a format that is easy for patients to understand. It also enables doctors to share treatment plans with other dental professionals and labs working on a specific case, making it a valuable tool in ensuring that a patient’s treatment is optimally coordinated.
Dr. Feldman also uses this treatment planning software in his own practice. We currently use a version called Synapshot, a more modern and robust iteration of XCPT.
