In order to accurately diagnose and treat his patients, Dr. Feldman utilizes state-of-the-art technology and the most advanced dental equipment.
State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment
3D imaging technology for accurate diagnosis
Our cone beam 3D CT scanner provides detailed three-dimensional images of your teeth, gum and jaws, and can also be used to take high-quality digital, two-dimensional panoramic X-rays (X-rays that capture a complete image of your entire mouth). Dr. Feldman uses the 3D functionality of the CT scanner to obtain a complete three-dimensional, 360o view of your jaw and teeth area. This helps him in his diagnosis of certain types of issues, and in planning for surgical procedures like bone grafting and dental implant placement.
Digital X-rays provide Dr. Feldman an instantaneous, detailed, two-dimensional view of your teeth, gums and bone. The images are displayed on a large screen monitor so Dr. Feldman can show you any problem areas and go over treatment options with you. Digital X-rays have the added health benefit of using 80% less radiation than conventional X-rays.
Intraoral camera for early detection and accurate diagnosis
The intraoral camera lets you see what we see. Dr. Feldman can put the images on a screen to give you a visual up-close view of your mouth and show you any problem areas. The particular type of intraoral camera we use has the added benefit of helping us with the detection of gum and tooth decay, using fluorescent light technology to highlight problem areas.
Treatment planning dental software
Dr. Feldman is the developer of Synapshot®, a revolutionary treatment planning software that incorporates CT scans, X-rays, photos, videos and text into a high-tech treatment plan. Patients can review their diagnosis and treatment plan and also watch educational video about their condition. The document can easily be emailed to patients so they can further review it at home if they wish. Referring dentists can also review charts and X-rays so that patient treatment is fully coordinated between practitioners.
Vizilite® oral cancer screening system
Along with a thorough visual and manual examination of the mouth, Dr. Feldman uses this innovative diagnostic tool to help identify soft tissue abnormalities that might not be visible to the naked eye. It’s a fast, easy and painless way to assist in the early detection of oral cancer.
Every one of our treatment rooms has a large- screen monitor so Dr. Feldman can show patients X-rays and digital images of their teeth, gums and bone tissues. Clear communication with patients is very important to Dr. Feldman. He wants you to be an active participant in your dental care so he strives to keep you informed about every aspect of your treatment.
High-tech tools for minimally invasive procedures
Soft-tissue lasers for precise and gentle gum and oral treatment
Dr. Feldman has several types of dental lasers to treat periodontal issues in a safe and effective manner. He treats gum disease, removes excess gum tissue, recontours the gum line, and performs frenectomies.
Dr. Feldman has been using dental lasers in his practice since 1992, and was one of the pioneers in the development of minimally invasive procedures for dental laser surgery. Dr. Feldman uses the lasers to precisely target specific tissues without harming surrounding tissues. The laser allows for the use of a special technique in removing tissues which eliminates the need for sutures and traditional “cutting” instruments. This makes your treatment more comfortable and allows the tissues to heal faster.
Piezosurgery® device for precision and safety
With his Piezosurgery® surgical unit, Dr. Feldman is able to precisely cut bone — and nothing else. This surgical device uses special ultrasonic microvibrations that only targets bone tissue without affecting the surrounding soft tissues such as gums, membranes and nerve tissue. It’s ideal for sensitive areas, and for instances where very precise incisions are required in areas of thin bone.
Due to its accuracy and precision, the piezosurgical procedure causes minimal damage to tissues. It is a quiet, gentle and minimally invasive procedure that results in reduced healing time and far less post-operative discomfort than conventional surgery.
Gentle and precise anesthesia delivery systems
Patients often comment on Dr. Feldman’s gentle touch. He uses a numbing agent before any injection so his patients never feel the needle.
For maximum effectiveness and comfort, Dr. Feldman additionally uses The Wand® Anesthesia System. This is a computer-controlled anesthetic delivery system which controls the flow of anesthetic so that it is comfortable and adequate.
Implant stability meters
For the success of the dental implant procedure, it is vital to assess the stability of the implant and the progress of osseointegration (the implant fusing to the bone) before placing a final restoration, such as a crown, on the implant. Dr. Feldman uses two different types of implant stability meters to measure implant stability and osseointegration. He is able to determine if the implants are ready for loading of the prosthetic or if more healing time is required.
Ultrasonic scalers for thorough and gentle cleanings
Our highly experienced hygienist uses ultrasonic scalers as part of your regular periodontal maintenance cleanings. Ultrasonic scalers utilize a wand with a tip that vibrates at a high frequency. These vibrations combine with water flow to gently and effectively remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria build-up. The vibrations also destroy the cell membranes of the gum-disease-causing bacteria, which kills them. Ultrasonic scalers are more comfortable for the patient than traditional scalers.
